Remembering our Veterans in Roslyn

This coming Memorial Day, a special section of Roslyn Park will be dedicated to our Veterans, past, presentand future. It will be called Veterans Grove at Roslyn Park. We are erecting a permanent American flag to proudly wave year round.

In addition, various patriotic ceremonies and events are being planned:

- Our deceased US service men and women will be honored by flying their casket flag for the day.Families will be able to participate in the raising and lowering of the Veteran flag. At sunset, there will be a closing ceremony.
- Our veterans, retired or active, may share their story with us at the closing ceremonies. Veterans can sign up for available dates.
- To honor our future service men and women, various speakers and special events will be planned.

Do you want to assist with the flag ceremonies?
Do you sing or play trumpet or bugle?
Do you want to volunteer to sing the National Anthem at one of the closing ceremonies?
Do you want to participate at our closing flag ceremonies?

If you or your organization is interested, we would like to hear from you.

Many alumni attended our annual Alumni Mass on November 13, 2011 at the 11 a.m. Mass.  Alumni participated in the celebration of the Eucharist as cantor, lector, altar servers, and guests.  A gathering was held after Mass in the Church Hall.  We look forward to having even more alumni next November.
